History

On June 4, 1883 five hundred residents signed a petition to incorporate the mile square area of Andover Village.  J.S. Morley, who became the first Mayor, and Clarence Darrow submitted the petition to the County Commissioners.  The permission was granted on August 7, 1883.  The county recorder certified the petition on November 5, 1883 and the first election was held on November 16, 1883.
